The components of professional competence of the future psychologist (special, clinical) are considered in the article. The components make up a special environment in which a new professionally significant quality arises in the system of preparation for students, which actualizes the need for a comprehensive study of such a phenomenon – professional competence. The analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature makes it possible to conclude that competence is a set of knowledge, abilities and skills that determines the result of work, a combination of theoretical and practical training of students, as well as knowledge of professional with personal qualities, on the basis of which creative potential, initiative, cooperation, ability to work in a group, communicative abilities, ability to learn, evaluate, logically think, select and build its activities are built. It is necessary to characterize the new, modern structure of the formation of culture of life selfdetermination, the culture of professional development, the motivation of the implementation of these components in life. The result of modern education should be the formation of a person capable of empathy and a ready to humanistic-oriented choice, individual intellectual effort and independent, competent activity in the political, economic, professional and cultural spheres of life, that respects themselves and others, tolerated to representatives of other cultures and nationalities. And with integral professional and personal education, provides a high quality level of the results of interaction with children and persons who have psychophysical disorders. The process of forming professional competencies in the educational process involves the use of advanced technologies, expansion of the scope of interpersonal relations, taking into account the potential and resource potential of the future psychologist (special, clinical), his experience, activating and attracting students to independent work and developing his responsibility for obtaining the result of own activities. Modern Ukrainian science at this time is only in search of understanding of competencies as a goal of education. European approaches do not always work in domestic conditions. That is why it is important to create such approach to comprehension and understanding of competencies that will help to implement and use them in the educational process of the present. Competence requires significant intellectual development: abstract thinking, reflection, determination of one's own position, self-evaluation, critical thinking, etc. Mastering key competencies will ensure, on the one hand, successful personality and social functioning of the individual, and on the other hand, – satisfaction of social needs in human resources of a certain quality.
