The problem of formation of information and communication competencies in pupils with intellectual disabilities

In the article the main aspects of the formation of information and communication competencies inpupils of a special comprehensive school is highlighted and theoretical analysis of this problem was conducted. Scientific psychological and pedagogical researches and studies on the use of information technology by pupilswith intellectual disabilities, in particular of senior pupils, were analyzed. Different views on the scientific and pedagogical problems of informatization and computerization of the educational process of special schools were explored. The expediency and value of the use of computer as new means of educating and means of correcting mental deficiencies of pupils is substantiated. The correctional possibilities of computer programs with different levels of difficulty to provide differentiated assistance to children with intellectual disabilities have been emphasized. The article states that in combined with traditional means of correctional influence, computer technologies promote the development of mental processes in children with intellectual disabilities, the child’s personality as a whole, improve the quality teaching. The areas of use of information technology in a special comprehensive school are designated. The main didactic conditions for the formation of information and communication competencies of pupils with intellectual disabilities during their studies are considered. The positive and negative aspects of the special school computerization are highlighted. The expediency of creating a computer-based educational approach to the formation of information and communication competences of pupils is substantiated. It was determined that the problem under study is directly related to the tasks of socialization of pupils, because without having certain knowledge of computer science, their full-fledged existence in society becomes impossible.
