special educational needs; psychological and pedagogical optimization of professional training of specialists in the social sphere.

The article analyzes the methodological tools used in the professional work of correctional educators and other professionals who
work with people with special educational needs. It is noted that among the effective means of correction of various disorders of psychophysical development, scientists and practitioners distinguish art-therapeutic technologies. It has been determined that art-therapeutic methods are both rehabilitation and creative-therapeutic means, which include various kinds of artistic activity and provide correction-compensatory influence. It is emphasized that art therapy is one of the effective and ecological methods of working with children with special educational needs. Arttherapeutic classes allow us to solve the following pedagogical tasks: educational, developing, correctional and diagnostic. Attention is drawn to the fact that these methods allow for an individual approach to each child, diagnosis,
correction, and formation of valuable attitude towards themselves and the world around them. Different methods of work and demonstrations before their application are considered.
The peculiarities of the use of different types of art therapy such as therapy by drawing, music therapy, dance and movement therapy, fairytale therapy, imago therapy, etc. are described. The peculiarities of work and difficulties that arise in the organization of some of these types are revealed. Possibilities of using dolls and metaphorical cards for diagnostics of emotional state, overcoming communication fears, speech negativism, for stimulation of speech activity are singled out. It is stated that the use of metaphorical cards
creates endless space for the development of the child's imagination and opens up new possibilities for games. The feasibility of using fairytale therapy that helps to increase the child's self-esteem is substantiated; to form an active life position, self-confidence; to develop independence and vitality; to promote the actualization of mental reserve opportunities and the formation of adequate behaviour on the basis of self-awareness and activity.
It is pointed out that for the development of speech of children with special educational needs it is effective to use the method of imago therapy, which belongs to the group of methods of game psychotherapy, aims to teach a person to respond adequately in difficult life situations, to expand communication opportunities, to mobilize life experience.
The conclusion is made that art-therapeutic technologies for children with special educational needs are varied and versatile. The goals and tasks of rehabilitation work are selected accordingly, taking into account indications and contraindications to the use of this or that method, age, and social characteristics and other indicators.
