The history of development of special education for children with orthopedic impairments in Ukraine is studied in the article. The purpose of its author is to analyze the scientific research achievements in the field of special education system performing education for children with special educational needs in Ukraine and to determine the state of studying the problem of teaching children
with оrthopedic impairments. The study of national experience in teaching students with different disabilities, e.g. with orthopedic impairments, seems to become especially important at the current reforming stage of Ukrainian education system. It is found out that the history of education of students with orthopedic impairments was not the subject of scientific research. The beginning of this research is revealed in the report of A. Shevtsov, T. Chernenko at the III International Scientific and Practical Conference «Actual Problems of
Orthopedics, Orthopsychology and Rehabilitation». The main periods of development of special needs education for children with visual, hearing, intellectual disabilities in Ukraine are covered in the work, based on the studying of scientific investigations. Taking into account the peculiarities of the development of children with оrthopedic impairments, it is necessary to separate the education of the named category of children later. The role of Ukrainian educators, psychologists in the coverage of historical and pedagogical aspects of
special education development in Ukraine is noted in the article. Attention is drawn to the importance of A. Shevtsov's research. It is noted that the Ukrainian special pedagogy is developing rapidly, founded in 2010 by Professor A. Shevtsov, the newest direction of scientific research and training in the field of special education and inclusive form of education, as orthopedics.
